Description, Responsibilities, and Qualifications
One or more teaching assistants at the 25-50% level to teach 1-2 sections per term of CMN 101: Public Speaking or CMN 111: Oral and Written Communication I for Fall 2022-Spring 2023. Employment for both semesters is contingent on enrollment and fulfillment of position responsibilities.
- Teaching, following a detailed common syllabus
- Evaluating student work
- Attending orientation and staff meetings
- Attending training meetings
- Holding office hours
- Other duties as assigned or required by a specific course assignment
Graduate students appointed to the position at a 25% level are expected to work 10 hours per week; graduate students appointed at the 50% level are expected to work 20 hours per week. Both groups are expected to meet responsibilities commensurate with those outlined by the Graduate College and the University’s Agreement with the Graduate Employment Organization.
Previous experience in public speaking and teaching. Strong preference will be given to applicants currently enrolled in College of LAS master’s programs or in a PhD program in a Communication-related or Communication-adjacent discipline.
