Description, Responsibilities, and Qualifications
SCD seeks a dynamic and motivated graduate student to join the marketing team at the Siebel Center for Design as the Communications and Storytelling Graduate Assistant. This person will work closely with the SCD marketing team on communications strategies, and collaborate with the entire SCD team to create engaging and meaningful content for our storytelling channels.
Additionally, the Assistant will work with internal stakeholders to develop stories for our website, draft copy and procure content for the monthly newsletter, “The Readout”, and oversee activity on SCD’s social media channels. Ideal candidates are confident and capable communicators, creative problem solvers, and are excited to take ownership of telling our stories at SCD.
Responsibilities:
- Copywriting for articles, blog posts, social media posts, case studies, and other communications channels
- Creating and managing social media calendars, developing schedules that are connected to campus activity and support SCD marketing campaigns
- Interviewing members of the SCD team, guests at SCD, and our project partners to develop stories around projects, courses, and other activities in SCD
- Attending regular meetings with the Marketing team
- Coordinating with SCD Graphic Designers and Photographers to procure content for newsletters, stories, and social media posts
- Project management and administration to support communications and storytelling, including creating and managing campaign schedules, coordinating meetings, performing interviews, note-taking, data collection, and more
Requirements:
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- At least 1 year of experience writing articles, blog posts, case studies and other, similar content
- Experience with social media content creation, and an understanding of different social channels, especially LinkedIn and Instagram
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc)
- Experience with remote collaboration tools and software, including Slack, Google Drive, and Zoom
- Understanding of or interest in learning about human-centered design or design thinking
