Priority 4: Support Greatest Needs

Funding Priorities

Make a Difference to Graduate Students @ Illinois - Funding Priorities

  1. Increase Fellowships and Scholarships
  2. Provide for Scholarly Travel
  3. Broaden Participation
  4. Support Greatest Needs

Gifts to Priority 4, the Dean's Fund for Excellence, will provide unrestricted funds to support graduate students through innovative initiatives or where the needs are greatest. Gifts may support campus-wide, thematic fellowships on important topics such as clean energy, personalized medicine, and climate change. Gifts to this fund will allow the Dean to assist with unique opportunities that arise during the year. This could include augmentation of fellowship awards to create competitive awards for exceptional graduate students; support for a student's completion when emergencies arise; or support of multi-disciplinary research through programs such as Focal Point. Your gift to the Dean's Fund for Excellence will make a difference.

Jared Green

"It is so important that we alumni give back to ensure that all of us have the opportunity to earn a graduate degree.  The 2017 initiative is a great way for me to support African American graduate students. Illinois prepared me well for a challenging career as a geotechnical engineer, designing foundations for high rise buildings in New York City."
