Airports
Our local University of Illinois Willard Airport (CMI) is 5 miles south of campus in Savoy. You may also want to check flights out of nearby airports such as Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW), Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal (CIRA), Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (STL), and Indianapolis International Airport (IND).
Bus & Train
Illinois Terminal is our local transit hub providing access to Amtrak train service and intercity busses. Illinois Terminal is just one mile from campus and is accessible using MTD bus service.
Public Transit
University of Illinois students, faculty, and staff can take advantage of excellent public transit offered by the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) serving the campus and community. Show your i-card or Illinois App ID to ride all MTD buses fare free. MTD's website has routes, schedules, real-time info, and apps.
MTD also operates SafeRides Connect, an on-demand service for those traveling on campus after dark. If standard bus service is unavailable, users can request a SafeRides trip using the MTD Connect app or by calling 217-384-8188.
Biking
Bicycling is an excellent mode of transportation in Urbana-Champaign. Champaign is a Bronze Bicycle Friendly City, Urbana is a Gold Bicycle Friendly City, and the campus is a Silver Bicycle Friendly University. Bike paths, racks, and lanes are found across campus and in the cities. Get your bicycle repaired and questions answered at the Campus Bike Center. Driving & Parking
Campus Parking has information about parking lots, passes for purchase, and metered parking. Additionally, in the campus area, the city of Champaign has metered parking and parking lots and the city of Urbana has metered parking in the campus area.
