The Graduate College is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Research Live! competition.

Research Live! is a fun, fast-paced competition that celebrates graduate students' research at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Twelve finalists shared their remarkable research in three minutes or less at the virtual public showcase on Monday, April 12. The winners are:

First prize: $300
Sherry Yi, PhD in Educational Psychology, "Using Videogames to Spark Interest for Learning"

Second prize: $200
Shonit Nair Sharma, MD in Medicine, "Paperometer: A Low-cost Incentive Spirometer"

Third prize: $150
Joseph Puthussery, PhD in Environmental Engineering in Civil Engineering, "Ambient Particulate Matter Induced Toxicity"

People's Choice: $100
Maitreyee Sharma Priyadarshini, PhD in Aerospace Engineering, "Trying Not to Burnout, Literally!"
