Teaching assistantship in Global Studies - Global Health class

LAS Global Studies

Teaching Assistantship

Description, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

Global Studies is looking to hire a 50% graduate teaching assistant from the College of LAS to serve as a grader for GLBL 240: Global Health for Fall 2024, extendable into Spring 2025 based on good performance and mutual agreement.

The successful candidate should be able to work productively with students, by giving them helpful feedback on entry-level data analysis and evidence-based writing. A background in the social sciences or in the biomedical field is preferred, but not required. As the Global Studies program is primarily focused on undergraduate education, graduate students considering a teaching-oriented career are particularly encouraged to apply.

There are no discussion sections for this course, and most of the TA’s work will consist of grading and holding office hours, which can be in person or in line, at the TA's preference. Candidates will be offered the opportunity to give class lectures on topics related to their research interests if this is compatible with the weekly workload and with the assistant’s availability.  For Fall 2024, GLBL 240 will be offered fully online, in a hybrid format of synchronous and asynchronous lessons.

This position will be supervised by Dr. Valeria Bonatti, who can answer questions about the course and expectations. Interested candidates should send their CV or resume, and a 1-2 pages statement of interest to Dr. Bonatti ( by April 20 at midnight.
