The Graduate College offers a range of professional development workshops to help you achieve your goals, explore broad careers, communicate effectively, and land a job that's right for you. See this calendar for full descriptions of our programs.

Summer 2018 Workshops

This summer, the Graduate College Career Development Office will offer workshops every Tuesday afternoon (from June 5 to August 7, except July 10) from 3:30-5:00 PM in Lincoln Hall 1002.

(Note: You do not need to register to attend the workshops above.)


Faculty Job Search Retreat

Going on the job market soon? Join us for valuable advice on from our Career Development staff and from faculty who have served on search committees at a range of institutions. This afternoon seminar includes presentations, hands-on activities, and a panel that will get you ready to apply for faculty jobs this fall. The Summer 2018 Faculty Job Search Retreat will be held 12:30-5:00 PM in the Illini Union. Registration is required.

Career Exploration Group

The Career Exploration Group provides a guided discovery process and collaborative environment for graduate students who are changing their career plans. Participants will work with career advisors to identify and explore broader career options that fit their skills, interests, and values. They will also learn about resources for job searching and how to begin the process of developing effective application materials. The Summer 2018 Career Exploration Group will meet Wednesdays from 3:00 - 5:00pm, starting July 18 and ending August 8. Registration is required.




Drop-In Career Consultations

Want some quick feedback on your resume or CV? Have a question about your job search? Every Monday this summer (from May 14 to August 20, except Memorial Day), you can stop by Coble Hall between 1:00 and 3:00 PM for a 10-minute consultation with a Graduate College career development specialist. Bring hard copies of any documents you want to discuss and check in at the first-floor reception desk when you arrive.
