The University of Illinois receives applications from students across the US and its territories, such as Puerto Rico. Participation in the Summer Research Opportunities Program is extended, but not limited, to students from underrepresented racial and ethnic populations in graduate programs at Illinois, as well as to students interested in conducting research on topics that specifically affect U.S. minority populations.

Applicants should be:

• United States citizens, permanent residents, or those with DACA status
• Juniors or those who will not graduate before December 2023
• Those with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
